Meet the A Team: Victoria Kirwin, Head of APay at APositive

Say hello to Victoria Kirwin, our new lead for APay and a force to watch in the recruitment fintech space. With a sharp mind for problem solving and a passion for helping businesses grow, Victoria is on a mission to turn APay into a key player in the payments space. We sat down with her to hear what she’s focused on, why she joined APositive, and how she spends her time when she’s not driving fintech innovation.

What’s your focus as the new lead for APay, and what are you most excited about in the role?

My focus is to make APay a major growth driver within APositive by building on the strong relationships we already have with clients and partners. Long term, I want APay to become the go-to name for payments in the recruitment industry. What excites me most is the chance to collaborate across departments and help APay reach its full potential as a leading fintech solution.

Tell us a bit about your background and what led you to APositive.

Covid completely changed the direction of my career, and I found myself deep in the world of B2B finance. I discovered a real passion for helping businesses navigate financial challenges and create solutions that helped them thrive. That led to product development, tech integrations and leading Customer Success. But I reached the limit of what I could do in that environment. I had already connected with Darren and felt our energy and drive for the industry aligned. The timing was right, and the appetite to grow APay was there.

In your view, how does APay make a difference for recruiters and their clients?

APay is undervalued in recruitment because it is often misunderstood. Many people think pay later solutions are only for clients struggling with cash flow, but that is not the full picture. There is a huge opportunity to educate the industry on how APay can help both recruiters and their clients. Beyond perm invoices, APay can also be used for things like implementation and SaaS fees, which adds real value.

How would you describe your working style?

I am a people-focused problem solver. I do not take challenges at face value. I take a step back, look at the bigger picture, and build a plan from there. I work best when things are busy and complex. If a problem is too simple or repetitive, it slows me down. I prefer challenges that need creative, multi-layered thinking.

Outside of work, who is Victoria?

I love music, movement and connection. I sing, play tennis and enjoy a good night of dancing when I can. I recently completed a music theory course and I am now doing a course in storytelling and public speaking. My husband and I also love cooking and hosting. We entertain often, whether it is a casual barbecue or a full Sunday roast.
