Key Insights from the APositive × Greg Savage Lunch Series
Across Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, APositive hosted recruitment leaders for an exclusive Lunch & Learn series with Greg Savage.
The conversations explored AI, agency profitability, temporary recruitment and what it takes to build a stronger, more valuable business. Several key themes stood out.
AI Won’t Replace Strong Fundamentals
The conversation around AI focused on its best use cases, including automating repetitive work, improving productivity and giving recruiters more time to focus on clients and candidates.
However, it was unanimously agreed that while there are clear benefits to using AI, it cannot replace trusted relationships, sound leadership or strong systems.
The agencies best placed to benefit will be those that adopt AI while continuing to invest in their people, processes and service offering.
Recruitment Must Become More Consultative
Transactional, volume-based recruitment is becoming harder to sustain as fee pressure rises and competition becomes fiercer.
To stand out, agencies need to become trusted advisers by providing deeper market knowledge, building stronger client relationships and securing exclusive or retained assignments. This allows recruiters to deliver greater value than simply supplying candidates.
Temporary Recruitment Can Build Long-Term Value
A strong temporary or contractor division can provide recurring revenue, more predictable cash flow and deeper client relationships.
It is not the right move for every agency, but with the right market, systems, compliance processes and funding structure, temporary recruitment can make a business more resilient and valuable.
Funding Can Enable Growth
Funding should not only be viewed as a safety net when cash flow is tight.
For temporary recruitment businesses, contractors need to be paid before clients settle their invoices. The right funding partner, like APositive, gives agencies the confidence to accept new roles, grow their contractor book and pursue larger opportunities by providing funding when they need it most.
Building the Agencies of the Future
The recruitment industry is changing, but the opportunity is significant for agencies willing to adapt.
The businesses that thrive will embrace AI, move towards trusted advisory partnerships, understand their numbers and build strong operational foundations. Technology will matter, but expertise, relationships and leadership will remain critical.
Thank you to Greg Savage and everyone who joined us across Australia. Your openness made each conversation incredibly valuable.
At APositive, we help recruitment agencies build for growth through tailored funding, payroll and payment solutions.
